The Best of the Best of the Interweb (12/28/12)

Well, that whole interweb thing looks like it might be around for a while and if you are going to “cruise it,” as the kids say, you will want to take a gander at these thingamajiggers called “websites”:

Everyone hip to the world wide web knows about uber-bloggers like Scot McKnight, Justin Taylor, Tim Challies and Denny Burk.  I check their blogs just about every day but there are others out there that you need to check out.

Like who you ask? Glad you inquired!

1. Pastor Dave likes him some theology but unlike most evangelical geeks, he is also a working pastor in an inner city church (overseen by a truly great minister who some say is the most handsome preacher ever…anyway, that’s the rumor).  So, Dave takes theology to the street.  Check it out.

2. Pastor Dave isn’t the only one in his household who loves theology. His better half blogs at Beauty for Ashes.  She doesn’t update it often but when she does it is always worth reading.

3. Speaking of theology, Mike Wittmer is a professor of theology at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in…well…Grand Rapids.  He is one of the few theologians who has somehow managed to hold on to his sense of humor. Plus, he is a fellow Buckeye who is obviously doing missionary work among the pagans of the Wolverine state. Check his blog weekly.

Alright, enough of all that stuff concerning matters of eternal significance.  How about sports, politics and pop culture?

I always look at Grantland (thank the heavens for Bill Simmons), Pop Candy (which is on hiatus until January 2) and Breitbart (God rest your soul, Andrew!).

Finally, every Friday I take a glance at the Stretched blog for his Ice Breakers (great for opening small groups).

Check back next Friday for the best of the interweb again and check back tomorrow for a review of Django Unchained and Sunday for a look at another amendment from our Constitution.

Until then, remember that Pastor Matt loves you.  Grace and peace!

Matt, Thanks for the mention this week even though I didn’t post an Ice Breaker this Friday. I’ll be back next week, but I’ve been enjoying the break with my family. Happy New Year to you and your family!
